Psychoanalytic Library

Our Psychoanalytic Library is the only research and reference center on psychoanalytic theory and technique in the Rocky Mountain area – a valuable resource for faculty, candidates/students and mental health professionals.

The library was established in1994 when Dr. Herbert Gaskill's office was turned into a library after his passing. Books donated from Herbert Gaskill, Gretl Hitchman, Herb Kritzer and Joan Fleming were the first 400 to line the shelves and has continued to grow over the years. We now have a substantial collection of books on psychoanalysis and psychodynamic psychotherapy which make up the Library’s collection.

The library is available by reservation only for pickup and drop-off.  Please call/email in advance to make sure the library will be open when you are planning to stop by and to arrange pickup of hold items or drop-off of loaned materials.

How to Use the Library

  • Members may request a hold for a book or periodical by selecting the “Request a Hold” tab located on the online Catalog through Libib.
  • A login is required to place a hold - we encourage you to use the same password you use for the Institute website.  See user instructions
  • A hold notice will be sent to office staff who will pull the book and make contact to arrange for pickup.
  • Lending time is 30 days and is renewable if there are no holds.
  • Reminder emails will be sent.
  • Returns must be arranged to ensure staff is in the office.
  • Late, lost or unreturned materials are subject to a fine.
