PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
ANALYTIC MINDS AT WORK: An All Institute Case Conference
This interactive, 3-hour event will present a psychoanalytic case (spanning two to three sessions), participants will observe experienced clinicians dissect clinical material, evaluate technical interventions, and reflect on their own clinical approaches.
Six panelists, comprised of two senior analysts, two graduate analysts, an analytic candidate in training, and a psychotherapy student, will share their reactions and associations to the material presented. Attendees will then be invited to engage with the panelists for large group discussion.
Attendees should leave with an enhanced understanding of how to more effectively work with patients by learning about how their colleagues handle difficult clinical issues.
Learning Objectives:
1. Describe how transference and countertransference are used to understand various aspects of the patient’s character structure.
2. Discuss the subtleties in technique in how to interpret/respond to a patient.
3. Demonstrate attunement to unconscious process as it emerges in the clinical/dream material and in the panel and large group discussion that follows.

Date: Friday, October 23, 2026
Time: 12:00 - 3:30 PM with a break offered midway through. Please arrive a few minutes early to find a seat and settle in so the program can begin promptly at noon.
Location: In person only. Anschutz Health Sciences Building, 2nd floor, room 2200/2201.
TRAINEES: This event is part of your 30 week program for the year and counts to your attendance. You have been pre-registered for this event.
Faculty: Program is encouraged for Faculty.

CME Certificates: To receive a CME certificate, the attendee must attend in full, sign the attendance sheet, and complete an online evaluation within 7 days of the program.

Continuing Education Credits

The American Psychoanalytic Association is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Other Profession Type
Other profession types will receive a certificate of attendance upon completion of the activity and online evaluation confirming their participation.
